Where in the World is the Jones Log Barn?

"Where in the World is the Jones Log Barn?" Flat Judy set out to find the answer.

If you visit the Tredyffrin Historic Preservation Trust website, http://www.tredyffrinhistory.org/ you will be able to find out the history of the Trust and the history of the Jones Log Barn. In 2002, the barn was sitting in disrepair and a demolition permit had been requested. After some review of the barn's history, there was an immediate need to 'save the barn' which formed the foundation of the Tredyffrin Historic Preservation Trust. The barn was carefully dismantled, logs numbered, and has been in storage for the last 4 years as the Trust members figured out ways to raise the necessary funds for its rebuilding.

With agreement from the Township, the historic Jones Log Barn will be rebuilt in the Wilson Farm Park. Flat Judy visited the future site of the barn and is thrilled to report that the barn will take on its' new life as an educational history center for the entire community to enjoy! A portion of the Tredyffrin 300 proceeds will be going towards the rebuilding of the barn. The Trust-sponsored 3rd Annual Historic House Tour was a great success and raised $6,500 for the rebuilding efforts. The Trust is in the midst of deciding on the architect and will break ground before the end of 2007!

With the efforts of many people, the rebuilding efforts are moving forward but the Trust is seeking sponsorship and additional volunteers. If you are interested in helping with this worthy cause, please call Trust President Pattye Benson (610)644-6759 or email at pattye@greatvalleyhouse.com
